Here are a few basic differences between gun oil, gun lube, and gun grease:-

1. Consistency

Grease is thicker and more viscous than oil and lube and is capable of staying in place to prevent burn-off. It has a gooey and gelatinous texture. It is designed to sustain high-friction and pressure.

Lube is more of a runny consistency, but less runny than oil, and it helps in reaching the hard spots and tight areas on your weapon. Oil is the thinnest of the three and spreads easily on the surface of your firearm.

2. Longevity

Grease lasts longer than both oil and lube, followed by lube, and then lastly oil. Grease gives better protection for longer periods as compared to gun oil and gun lube.

3. Protection

Grease and lube are better capable of protecting your firearm as compared to oil. This is majorly due to the higher viscosity and thickness of the two as compared to oil. They stay in place for a longer time and hence ensure better protection.
